Who’s who and what you need to remember

Paul is the son of Duke Leo Atreides and Lady Jessica, the rightful heir to House Atreides, the new lords of the sand planet Arrakis. However, as we saw in the first film, the Emperor of the Galaxy was slaughtered by one of the dominant houses, the Harkonnens, who have a centuries-old feud with the Atreides. They find almost everyone except Paul and his mother, who survive.

But Paul isn’t just any old royalty. With a carefully mixed bloodline, she has been carefully groomed to potentially become the most powerful force in the galaxy. This belief was established in the cultures of Arrakis long before the arrival of Paul. Therefore, when Paul reaches Arrakis, many people already believe that Paul is their god, Lisan al-Gab. Paul isn’t so sure. However he has very strange, sometimes serendipitous, visions.
