If you are on one iPhone 14 Pro or any modern iPhone 15s, you will be able to turn off the screen recorder via the dynamic island at the top. You’ll need to open your Control Center again on the previous iPhone and tap the red bullseye symbol to end the recording.

Although the variety of Android devices is much greater than that of iPhones, screen capping and recording should be broadly similar across most devices. If you only want a screenshot, press the Power button and the Volume Down key at the same time. This should work for most mainline Android phones like the Google Pixel or Samsung devices. Some devices let you edit and crop the screenshot with a small toolbar popup that appears at the bottom of the screen.

Then, under the general functions like flashlight and mute, there’s a button for “Screen Recorder.” It then gives you the option to record any audio along with media from the phone’s mic. To stop recording, press the Stop button on the small toolbar that appears toward the top of the screen. Any screen recording is saved to your Photos app for easy viewing and sharing.
