Google is testing a new feature called “Speak to a Live Representative,” which will contact businesses for you, navigate their phone tree, wait on hold, and then call when a real human being is ready to chat. Then he will call you. It could solve one of the more frustrating parts of dealing with corporations, and it brings us closer to a world where we all have our own weird little personal robots that talk to each other on our behalf. This feature was first seen by a user X/Twitter, an experimental tool available to users on iOS and Android. Google Pixel phones already have a similar feature called “Hold for Me,” but the new option expands it to all phones and adds more functionality. Hold for Me requires users to call themselves and sort through the company’s phone system until they reach the point where they are put on hold, but speak to a live representative who will do that for you. - Shipping and Delivery Services: ADT, DHL, FedEx, Grubhub, Instacart, Securus Technologies, StubHub, UPS, Zelle
- Insurance: Assurance, State Farm
When the option is enabled you first press the “Speak to a Live Representative” button, and then select the reason for your call.
